What can I do for my depression? it is severe my antidepressants do not help me?
I am very depressed.I am 71 yrs old. My antidepressants are not helping me. My doctor will not change them. I was in the medical field 35 yrs. I used to be a social worker.I feel I know something about this area. I feel confident i can help others but not myself.

I would absolutely change doctors!
Is this a G.P. or Psychiatrist telling you this? If it's your G.P. they aren't qualified to make such a call. Get yourself to a Psych. Being on the wrong anti-depressant will actually make your disorder worse. There are many to choose from nowadays and it can often take a bit of time to determine which one is most effective for you. We all respond differently to the various Meds. It can take a while to determine what Med. and what dosage is optimum for you. If you haven't got one yet get yourself to a Psyc. This is what they are trained for. They know what they're doing.
