What do you do when your feeling lonely? Men please also respond 🙂

Me: I’ll watch TV, come on this site and read and write a post, I’ll go for a walk, read a book, sometimes I’ll just lay in my bed and think, surf the web, listen to music, sometimes go for a drive....

I have my child and a husband but I hide alone on my roo. So it's my fault.

UnderstandingMyPain in reply to

Why do you hide? If you don’t want to answer it’s okay 🙂

in reply toUnderstandingMyPain

I hide because we live with my mil and my bil liv s here too. All on hard times. They are fitness buffs and I have gained fifty pounds in the last seven years and I'm so embarrassed to be seen. My bil is a personal trainer and they all pick on me for how I look. I hate what I look like and don't want anyone to see me.

Hi Melhall! Sorry it took 9000000 years to respond. Awww that’s not nice that they do that. Always remember when someone has to resort to saying things to put someone else down it means they have a lot of internal baggage that they are carrying around and probably been carrying around with them for years. By no means at all, that someone's weight should determine someone’s worth. I don’t care if your 100000lbs or 90lbs.

I basically beg my brother to hang out lol. But when that fails, i try to find a feel good show or movie to watch. Or go for a brisk walk and if i go to the store i make a point to force myself to be friendly and kind to the cashier.

I have too much to do. My bulldog is high maintenance. My work hours are all over the place. I try to squeeze in laundry. I take care of my 31-year-old cousin with Aspergers and severe ADHD. We both need hair cuts.

Lonely. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt it. I’ve missed people. I like checking in here. I like my grief group. I’m not sure I pay attention to it which is a lot of my problem. I ignore my feelings. I’m human so I’m sure I’ve felt this way but it passes like everything else.

Much of my depression is I forget to stop and feel things. I’ll pay more attention.

Thank you for this post. I need to stay in the moment. 💛

Come to think of it, I don’t believe I am ever physically lonely (well my mom is here now on her veryyyyy long extended visit) I think the only time I am really alone physically without anyone else in my immediate presence is when I’m driving. You got me to think, I believe my post should of been, what do you do when your bored?

NeuronerdDoaty profile image
NeuronerdDoaty in reply toUnderstandingMyPain

Now that I oddly enough can relate to. I like driving in the car to nowhere with 70s music cranked up singing like I know how with no one to tell me I can’t. I dance and sing to Earth, Wind and Fire and move on to the 80s with Prince. The sound off the windshield makes everyone sound like a star. 🙃.

I like to walk and notice things I wouldn’t normally.

And.... I like trash tv. I had no idea until my work hours became so weird (due to arrival of fresh brain slices) that there were shows where women needed someone to tell them who the father of their baby was. Do you have this in the UK? Don’t they know who they slept with or how many? I love it. They fight over useless men with no jobs and other baby’s. An hour of this and you have no depression. It can’t be real. It’s totally irrational. 😳😆

UnderstandingMyPain profile image
UnderstandingMyPain in reply toNeuronerdDoaty

LOL, I have no idea if they have it in the UK, I'm in the US.....oh yesss the so called "reality tv" they have these days are my guilty pleasures lol but its weird because I have to be in the mood of it. It's like if I just don't feel like thinking and trying to follow along with something to solve, I'll put one of my crazy shows on, just to laugh and keep saying, what in the world whenever I hear someone say something so goofy.

The phrase is ‘are you serious’ 3 times. Lol! I just love the word conversating.

I need to find some friends to go on one with me with some crazy story before I get too old. You’ll watch one day and say ‘hey her name is Doaty, I know her. This isn’t true😆😆!’

UnderstandingMyPain profile image
UnderstandingMyPain in reply toNeuronerdDoaty

LOL omg, I would probably scream and say, I KNOWWWWW her, well never met her BUT I KNOWWWW her. lol

Lonely or depressed? My answer to both is to "force" myself to get out of the house and visit friends, take a long walk or even go grocery shopping. Friend visits would be my first option. but grocery shopping works too..you'd be surprised about the subtle interactions occurring shopping and at the check out lane... Sometimes, it's those insignificant encounters that can make all the difference in your day.

UnderstandingMyPain profile image
UnderstandingMyPain in reply to

Oh yes!! I know about those interactions. I had a few since the wait seems like it takes for ever to be next!! I

Loneliness is very hard for me especially after the time changed and it's cold. Tv, computer (here or window shopping), play with the dogs. Sometimes it gets to be too much and I head to bed. I live in a rural area which doesn't offer much evening activities.

Dogs are wonderful to have. One of mine will sometimes slam up against me and then puts her head on my chest or shoulder and fall asleep. I'm not sure who gets more out of it, me or her.

Hello Dolphin I know how it feels I lost my dog when I was younger a golden retriever named bobby I spent years feeling sad. My brother phoned me one day in 2010 about if I wanted a dog only a year old because he could not keep him due to housing issues so I went round to have a look I thought why not might as well see if he was right for me so I knocked on my brothers front door and all of sudden I am greeted with this big muscular white Staffordshire bull terrier who knock me back jumped on top of me and began licking my face. After this we got on like anything and from that point on I knew I had to have him. He’s name was Reah and my brother said I could have him as long as I look after him and so I took him home with me in the car and he was well behaved and very good natured. When I came home and my mum and dad saw him they freaked but over time they too have grown to loving him. Over the years as my second dog he had given me so many happy times and memories and has been beside me and gave me love no matter what and I do exactly the same and love him loads I do the very best for him and he is so funny and cute . He is my world he is my Reah today he is 10 and still loving bless him.

Thank you for sharing that beautiful story.

William was a long haired daschund. I lost him when he was 14. He was beside me through some really tough times in my life. We were always together. My life has a huge empty spot without him.

The loss was so huge that I could never do it again.

Enjoy Reah. You are so blessed. 🐾

Hi. Well, when the depths of my loneliness and despair is cavernous, I try to get outside and take a walk, ride to the store, or just go for a drive.

My three cats help, and I love to watch the birds on my patio after I put out their daily seed.

I might also read, or watch something on YouTube relating to science or the cosmos (funny, seeing how small we are in the universe works to lift my loneliness instead of cause it), and I'll talk with my partner.

These are my salves, and each have their own special soothing properties.
