What do you do when your employer won't fire me? I have been going through this anxiety and depression for 2 and half years and the job is making it worse. I actually tried to resign 2 years ago but, my boss wouldn't let me and I was actually going through depression then. Ever since then my supervisor has turned all the workers against me. I can't go to work without taking anything to calm me down before I get to work and sometimes that doesn't help.I dread going to work now and it wasn't this way before. They constantly use my mental illness against me. Today I did did some things that I shouldn't have and they sent me home early. I really didn't want to go back there and I will take any advice that is given. Even if I am in the wrong.
Thanks for replying

Quit. People complain that we need allowances for mental health and the flip side complain that they won't fire you. You need to be responsible for yourself and just quit. Not fair to want to be fired and maybe try for unemployment. Tough love, be a grown up and make a decision for yourself and take responsibility.
Hand your notice in and leave. Getting sacked will prejudice any later attempts to ge a new job. It's not worth all the stress.
Your boss doesn’t own you. You say that he/she wouldn’t let you resign 2 years ago - you don’t need permission to quit. Just. Do. It. Trying to get fired only makes you look bad.
I don’t know the laws all that well but maybe they don’t want to fire you because you let them know you have a disability & they don’t want to turn back on them that you were discriminated because of your disability. So they’re waiting for you to quit by making your life at work hell. My last job was hell but I made sure my supervisor didn’t know about my mental illness but Human Resources does but they’re not suppose to disclose it to the supvisir . Long story short incident happened and I finally got my excuse to quit. Lost my health benefits, a year later instead of 3 antidepressant (1 anti-psychotics pill) I’m only taking 1–citalopram.
I wished I had quit earlier. I’m still depress but not stressed.
Don’t let work rob you what little happiness you have. Our anxiety, depression and whatever is enough as it is.
Just quit. If you are in the UK and worried about getting benefits get a med cert from your doctor and claim sickness benefit instead. Illness is considered a valid reason to leave a job x
Wish I had a job where I can go in whenever I want, and go home whenever...it's actually to your advantage...now as for resigning that's a different story...why are you still there?...why haven't you resigned?...I'm abit confused...your doing this to yourself...your colleague's have got their own lives to worry about...what are you doing?
Mental illness falls under Anti-Discriminatory Laws. If your not in a position to simply leave work, note each time something happens and report it. You'll need to find out the best person/organisation according to where you live but they can't force you to stay in a job, can't fire you because of your Mental Health and can't make your life miserable whilst in their employment.
They currently think they are controlling the situation. Do some research to ensure you cover yourself. Then prove to them just how wrong they are.
After I looked at this again.... I suppose I would want someone to shine light on the FACT that you can not be FORCED to stay any where. Now in saying that and keeping in mind never quit anything without a back of plan (I am sure you already know that) because it is a possibility it will kick you in the butt.
Companies get away with a lot regarding the understanding of mental or physical issues with present and future employees. The trick is to first find out your rights in your state. YOU HAVE RIGHTS. Second, decide if there is a reason WHY you keep staying there. YOU ARE WORTHY OF YOUR FEELINGS EXSPECIALLY WHEN IT IS SHOVED DISRESPECTFULLY IN YOUR FACE EVERYDAY! Third, did they know about your depression when you were hired?
