Finding it hard

I’ve had anxiety and depression for 4 years and nearly every day is a nightmare. During the day I can’t really do anything. I don’t know how I manage to pass the day. If I’ve to go out I panic. It’s a horrible place to be. I can’t watch tv etc during the day and just can’t get myself out too walk. I’m at my wits end. Can anyone help? Also I don’t have a wide circle of friends for support and have to phone helplines.

Hi clarencecool, I’m sorry that you feel this way. Are you currently on medication? I understand depression will make you have the worst feeling ever, try to take little steps, like getting out to walk around your house for 5 mins. Exercise helps to combat depression a little.

I am right there with you. I used to be an active person, now I lay in bed all day and can’t wait for the night to come

Clarencecool, Thanks for reaching out for support. I hear you say that you suffer from anxiety and depression; therefore, it is difficult to do anything throughout the day. I appreciate the steps you have taken to get help as you mentioned you use help lines. I admire your strength and determination. I know you said you are at your wits end, and I am wondering if you feel suicidal? Sometimes situations are tough but remember you are tough too. It is understandable that you are trying and it is hard to make progress throughout the day. Therefore, we can start with small steps maybe start your day with something that makes you smile. For example, what is your favorite song or movie? I see you may can begin you day with this as motivation. Next, when you get up you can try to go outside for at least five minutes a day to stand; although, you may feel you cannot walk around you can enjoy the sunshine and outdoors. I would like to inform you of two referrals if you feel suicidal. The first referral is Crisis Text Line it is available 247 and it is through text messages text CONNECT to 741741. Crisis text line can help with any problem. The second is National Suicide Prevention Lifeline call 1-800-273-8255 available 247 both of these are confidential. I hope this helps.

Agree completely with have been said. It is urgent that you seek help. A GP or a psychiatrist ( this one is better) will prescribe medication that will boost your mood. Shortly after you will awake in the morning and do your life normal without intrusive thoughts, anxiety or depression. See the antidepressants as a kick start. Anxiety and depression are hellish but theres always ways to minimize or block those bar feelings. Looking for help is the first step. Good luck and keep in touch

Thanks for your advice. I feel, as the song says, “stuck in a moment and can’t move on” My Counsellor says we are just going round in circles. Thanks for the numbers. They are for USA and I live in UK. Today is 4 years to the day I’ve had this and I’m getting very despondent. My new medicine has done nothing so far which has disappointed me.
