An Underrated Hobby of Mine

I really don't have any go-to hobbies like some do, something to take my mind off being anxious and depressed. You might have heard once or twice that well intentioned albeit inappropriate suggestion to "get a hobby and it will take your mind off feeling terrible." I work out but that's not really a hobby although, I suppose it could be if one has enough denial and is able to convince convince himself/herself. When I think about starting a hobby of some sort, after much thought, I usually decide against it. When I break it down, in the end, it usually comes across as pointless. However, a recent response I had to someone's post here made me realize that I do indeed have a hobby, itching. That's correct, I really enjoy itching and the subsequent gratification that comes from scratching the offending limb or body part. The sensation is very much underrated, in my humble opinion. For instance, when I take Niacin, which is essentially vitamin B, my arms and hands really itch for about 30 minutes. I really enjoy these moments like one might enjoy jumping in a swimming pool on a blistering summer day or sniffing the glorious aroma of an 86 Pichon Lalande. Let me be clear, however, that I'm not a glutton for punishment. I don't fancy a rash or all over body itch brought on by some terrible affliction. Rather, the ever so slightly uncomfortable sensation of itching is welcomed if I have time to sit down and take part in the scratching festivities. So yes, I do indeed have a hobby after all. :)

Hi in my experience hobbies you enjoy tend to find you when you are out and about doing different things. For example when I was young I worked in a pub and when someone dropped out of the dart team I joined. I discovered I loved darts and wasn't bad at it. It's been a lifelong hobby and I still play today.

Don't talk yourself out of things and just think what you might enjoy and try jumping in with both feet and see what happens x
