Sertraline terrible anxiety
Hi jwell.
Sertraline (Zoloft) is an SSRI (Selective Seratonin Retake Inhibitor) that works by decreasing the amount of seratonin your body absorbs back into it's system. Unfortunately, a SSRI can take awhile to reach an effective level and they must be gradually introduced to your system. They can also simply stop working for no apparent reason. They can be a very frustrating medicine.
Diazepam (Valium) is a 'benzo' that works by suppressing the nervous system. Benzos are short-term meds that are usually used while waiting for the SSRI to 'kick in' and for panic attacks. I was using Citalopram (Klonopin) until my SSRI started functioning.
Benzo's were very helpful for me. I took them a bit longer than I should've and had to taper off of them (as they're addictive), but now they are there for panic attacks (which I haven't had since February).
Hang in there. Many of us have been through what you are describing.
Keep at it. I know it's difficult to feel like this. I went through the same exact thing. There is a means to an end and theres a light at the end of the tunnel. Im living proof. So keep at it follow your drs instructions do your best to deal w it right now bc once the meds equalize and work into your system it's all worth it.
I promise. You will be ok. Give it a chance.
It's hard but u can do it
I didn’t really have anxiety until I took Zoloft I had to come off of it and my anxiety never went away everybody is different
Oh you never had anxiety until u took it? Yea well that's a different story...
And yes, everyone is different. Everyone can react differently to medications. I was just sharing what happened to me to encourage you.
