Does anybody have any advice/experiences with bipolar and periods? I always feel as though my mental health really deteriorates and become suicidal during these times. I have asked my GP about this and said there is no connection although I'm doubtful.
I've just been through a tough time with a depressive episode and I'm terrified of things triggering this again also.
I'm seeing my psychiatrist next week and thinking of bringing this up with him?
Any advice would be really helpful

Hey there, honestly I do think your cycle can effect that. Women have hormone imbalances all the time, so of course that could make your symptoms worse around your period. I definitely think you should talk to your psych about it, maybe they have other patients who go through that.
The one thing I can tell you is keep in your mind no situation, person or obstacle is worth taking your life. I totally understand how you feel at this time and I am also bipolar and during my time of the month everything that anyone has done to hurt me comes all rushing back into my mind at once. It’s awful, because I’m depressed and really think down on myself and the thought passes through my mind but as quickly as it passes through I command it to leave. Once you look bad on it you’ll realize it wasn’t as bad as you made it seem at that time. There’s gotta be some connection between bipolar and periods or pms.. stay strong
