I called the helpline

Hi, so I called the helpline because I was feeling really sad about the fact that I’ve taken every antidepressant that exists every depression treatment that exists even ketamine infusions that aren’t even approved by the FDA yet and cost $3000, and I still cannot get better. I lay in my bedroom day and night night and my living room is much better but I just don’t go out there because I just wanna stay in bed. I’ve become very deconditioned because of it as my doctors says it. I feel hopeless. Can anyone give advice?

Hi ad's can't do the work for you but it is tough when none of them help. Some people are treatment resistant unfortunately.

I know it's very hard when you feel so bad but you need to start doing very small things that are achievable such setting a time for getting out of bed. Keep doing that until you can do it, then move on to the next very small step. Small steps are the key coz eventually they lead to big changes. I understand the feeling very well of wanting to isolate yourself but it is the worst thing you can do.

Have you had any counselling? x

I know that isolation is bad but it’s what I want. I like to talk on the phone with my friends but otherwise nothing.

Do you try the antidepressants long enough as many take awhile to get into your system. Also drs sometimes prescribe 2 different types of ADs taken together. Don't give up hope as new medication is being tested all the time. Also, sometimes seeing a different Dr can often help. Take care.

Hi Ribby...do you let your friends come over? Maybe share with them if you haven’t already, what you’re going through. Let them know you’re struggling and that you need some help. Their company there with you may just help. Order in and watch a movie together and that will at least open you up just a bit. Then you can slowly move to the next small step.
