I'm feeling down. Really for no reason, but I'm just feeling down.
I had my first meeting with a psychologist. I'm not sure he's right for me, but I'll go a couple of times to see.
I just want to feel good again!

I'm new to this forum. I recently stopped going to a therapist who was very sweet but ultimately very ineffectual. I learned a couple of important things from the experience.
1. Be honest if your needs are not being met. I continued to see her for a YEAR although I felt quite strongly from early on that it was a wrong match. I didn't want to hurt her feelings by ending it.
2. Give them the opportunity and tools to better meet your needs. It does not have to be done confrontationally. When I finally told her that my needs were not being met, she honestly did TRY to address my call outs.
3. Trust your gut (after giving it a fair try). The length of a fair try will be different for everyone. But if you are showing up week after week, feeling like "why?", even after having discussions about it...that's a good indicator that it may not be the right match.
Best of luck. I hope he is the right match.
I agree and think this is good advice. You need to have a good relationship with your therapist. If you've given it a few weeks and don't feel fully comfortable then you should continue seeking out another therapist that gives you the help you need.
Congrats for going to see a therapist to try and figure things out. Its smart of you to be cognizant that you need to feel out the relationship with this therapist before you commit. Good luck and I hope you start feeling better soon.
Thank you 😊
I think it's a great idea to give it a couple sessions to truly know if this is the right fit. It's uncomfortable in the beginning no matter who you're seeing. but you're on the right track to health and healing. I've been in therapy for 2 years now and it has been the greatest step I've taken to healing and getting out of deception. You've got this! Hope you're doing well!
