No Appetite

Been feeling stressed lately as I’ve started a new job and the transition has been stressful. I’ve totally lost my appetite which isn’t normal for me. Can loss of appetite be related to stress? Everything I read online is freaking me out which doesn’t help the situation. My dr is running blood tests but don’t know the results yet. Has this happened to anyone else?

I lost 50 pounds during the most stressful time of my life. I know the feeling of not being able to eat with no appetite like it’s just not possible. I started taking multi vitamins and got my meds straightened out and slowly started to eat again. It’s been almost a year and just last month I started eating a meal everyday. But you should check with your dr because stress can cause ulcers, there could be an underlying reason. This is just my own personal experience.

Thanks - yeah I’m concerned for sure. I’m not on any meds and am trying to help myself without meds. I really hope I can as this is really affecting the quality of my life

I went from 177 to 165 in three weeks from stress. It kills your appetite for sure. Nothing sounds good and it’s gagging whenever you try. I started eating cold fruit early morning and small meals until I built up an appetite. I have gained 4 pounds back. You may have to force yourself to eat but your body needs nutrients to keep going.

It took a little over a week to get it stable. It is still not completely back to normal. I’m at a month mark.

Definitely! I've been through this. Lost 10 pounds in little over 2 weeks just from stress, anxiety, depression! I drink the nutrition drinks while this went on and eventually I start eating again. Some people are the opposite they over eat when mentally stressed.

I don’t even have any sensations of hunger. It’s not that I don’t want to eat - I just don’t feel hungry. How long did it take for your appetite to return? Weeks? Months?

It took me like 2 months joonbug. Little by little you eat little things. Drink the Nutritional Drinks. They helped me immensely!!! This eating issue I see for me is a pattern that started a decade ago. I saw doctors because of scary REAL symptoms and had tests, and always normal! I have a serious disease and it's called Anxiety & Depression. Also, I noticed when depressed I would also limit my food intake because of other emotional issues. This was an eating disorder! Keep up with your doctors and get some Therapy and it passed for me! 😊😁
