I’ve been taking fluoxetine for 5 weeks now and still haven’t gotten my appetite back and still feel nauseous. Have anyone experienced that? How long until it subside? Thanks

I take mine at night. I have to eat crackers in bed every morning. Nausea is with me every day. Once I get 3-5 crackers melted in my mouth and down I have to drink tea. Then I can begin where I used to start. The doc said I could take a tums but that didn’t help. Pepto Bismol did but then going to the bathroom is truly shi$$ing bricks. Crackers and tea for me. Talk to you doctor. You’re having an adverse reaction.

Good luck💛

Thank you for your reply. How’s your appetite? How long have you been on Prozac ?

I can’t say this is what takes away my appetite. I’ve been off and on it for 18 years. I had two brain hemorrhages and two brain surgeries. I can’t smell food so I forget to eat. I’m pretty sure I lose weight when I’m on it because of which clothes I can wear. Sorry I can’t be more helpful with that.

Hi sorry to hear that. My first thought was though that maybe I should change from sertraline to prozac as I need to eat less and lose weight! x

Well I would just stay on them for a while until I lose around 3 stone then switch back. I do know what you mean though as feeling nauseus is awful. x

I’ve been taking Prozac for a number of years. I’m on a very small dose (15mg). Last fall I went through what my doctor call “a super human amount of stress” and I’m still moderately depressed. I have absolutely no appetite. I feel empty but never feel hungry. It’s a catch 22 for me. I was so severely depressed I’m afraid to go off of it and I am hyper-sensitive to all antidepressants. I’ve tried most of them and have had severe reactions including tinnitus and hearing loss. I feel like I’m stuck with Prozac but I’m dealing with it for now. I also have nausea in the mornings when I take it but it goes away after I eat. It comes and goes throughout the day but not severe. My suggestion is to stay with it for a while. It may resolve itself. My sister takes 40 mg and it doesn’t effect her appetite at all. I might start taking it at night. Also, don’t give into it. Make yourself eat. A healthy diet helps with depression.

I would love to chat with you. I started prozac two weeks ago. Week one was stomach ache but week 2 is no appetite at all. I am small and scared I'm losing so much weight. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and I'm scared she is just going to tell me to be patient and my appetite will come back. I'm so weak from not eating. But my anxiety is better! Please reach out!
