One of these days, I’ll be free at last

From a wicked world wielding a looking glass.

I won’t have to crawl through a crooked maze.

Yeah, I’ll be free - one of these days.

One of these days, I’ll find someone

and she’ll love the man I’ll soon become.

We’ll sit on our porch as a busy boy plays.

I’ll find someone - one of these days.

One of these days, I’ll come to learn

the way back home from this wrong turn.

I understand it might take changing my ways

and I’ll do that, too - one of these days.

One of these days, I’ll face my fears;

perhaps find an end to these relentless tears.

I won’t have to lie or cover my craze.

I’ll overcome these fears - one of these days.

One of these days, and some day soon,

I won’t have to eat with a bent up spoon.

I’ll be faithful to God, always giving Him praise

for the love He gave - one of these days.

One of these days, I’ll be healthy again.

I’ll smile a real smile and remember when

I had lost myself in this drunken haze

and be glad I made it - one of these days.

One of these days, I’ll lose someone

to God-knows-what and, when that day is done,

I’ll look at the past with a grieving gaze

and give anything to get back one of these days.
