I do actually. I love being outside in nature. When life gets hard I go out in the yard by the tree we had planted for our daughter and just watch the leaves blow in the breeze while the birds sing to me. I craft like crazy. Color, paint, cross-stitch, knit, etc. My 3rd love would be sitting in my room, listening to ambient music and meditating. It does help in the short burst of alone time I get and I treasure it.
Love open-world games like Fallout or another Bethesda goodie...Rage 2...and many others. Such a good way to zone out and immerse ourselves. That tune...is it a homage to the band Joy Division who later became New Order (of "Blue Monday" fame) after Ian Curtis passed on?
Man, I gotta get back into Fallout one of these days. Recently, I've been immersed in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, traversing ancient Greece on my winged horse (far from a flying Pegasus, but, at least I can descend a cliffside unscathed). Do you play on PC or console?
Yeah, the song does invoke that band to almost comical effect, given Curtis's bleak lyrics, but I think that's what gives me such a lift when I play it -- the thought that, even for a few minutes, I can dance my way through the despair.
Flailing- now that's how to get it out of your system.
The song was "story of my life" I sing it in a bluegrass way
Watching funny/comedy videos on YouTube. When I’m feeling really down I lay in bed by myself. Turn off all the lights and pull up funny videos. It really does help. I also write out my feelings which helps me too.
Have you ever seen the "mr. Whicher" series w/paddy considine? It is a short British period mystery series, that was nicely done!
Thank you for responding!
Love Social D!
1) Playing the guitar/singing along to my favorite songs. Love hearing crisp notes coming from the guitar. I'll add to this...playing karaoke in my car to and from anywhere.
2) Meditation that helps me finally breathe that perfect sigh of relief that things are truly okay. Might take 20-30 minutes to get it, but boy is it great.
3) My kids' laughter. It's incredibly hard to not smile from the infectious laughs of honest to goodness laughter. Hopeful, organic, and raw. It makes everything okay smiling (or joining in) in the moment.
Thank you so much for this great post. So helpful to get people thinking about positive things.
Just loved the videos of animals appreciating music, I will listen to all of those when I get time.
For me three things are:
Swimming in beautiful seas, rivers or lakes
Wildlife photography and looking at the photos afterwards
Eating outside on warm moonlit nights with close friends and family with either deep meaningful or drunken funny conversation (they tend to amount to the same thing after a certain time of night) and plenty of good wine flowing.
building or fixing something as rock music plays in vbackground
.
working out (once you get past the hard part its hard to describe incredible joy in reaching ok-i-already am-here-di-lets-see-how-hard-can-we-go, and then going further)
Music animals and exercise are big with me as well.
All great things for me too, actually I don't have a Christian mentor but I have been looking up bible verses dealing with certain emotions and predicaments.
My Christian mentor is someone who sits with me every week and just listens to me ! I can share anything with her ! She does this as a volunteer job ❤️
My mom lives in another country and we don’t really have a deep relationship so having an older adult to listen and guide me has been life changing
God is the center of my relationship with her but you don’t have to be a Christian to have someone like her walking along side you ! She is part of a Christian organization that has volunteers all over the country .
Oh thank you for this question something to lift us all up. 1- I love hot chocolates, it doesn’t matter how good it is as long as theres a hint of chocolate in there 2- I love going into the nature, seeing mountain views 3- I love that feeling I get when I’m feeling comfortable and not anxious, which is rare but I do love chatting to people, it feels so light and I could easily laugh about anything 🙂
1. being in the warm sunshine, 2. when cat curls up in my lap & purrs like mad, sometimes he will look up at me its so cute I want to cry, 3. I like to watch Family Feud. Its fun & Steve Harvey is the best host since Richard Dawson. Lots of things make me smile. But those 3 are the top of the list.
Spring is here & I am so ready for the lilacs to bloom. I can almost smell them already.
