I need a therapist but my insurance co pay is to high to afford one. Is there an alternative? I live in the U.S.
I’m having a very difficult time with anxiety and depression. I see a phychiatrist for my meds but that’s it. I have no friends or any kind of support.
Please any help would be grateful. Thank you

I have a friend who only sees her therapist twice a month and when she told the therapist she couldn’t afford the cost, the therapist cut her fees in half. I think a lot of therapists have sliding scales of fees for those who can’t afford their regular fees.
I got 5 free therapy appointments through my works EAP (employee assistance program) service. I don’t know if that is something your work offers but they found a therapist for me and paid for those first 5 appointments. It’s confidential too, so no one from your work has to know.
Thanks. My employer doesn’t even offer medical. I have to pay for Obamacare, I get a tax credit so that helps. My co pay for a specialist is $50.00, to much.
I may try Catholic charities, they offer free mental health services, probably a licensed practitioner, but that’s okay with me. Then I think they refer you to a therapist after one month and you pay based on your income.
