I been on lexapro for long time on and off. But now I just have such an Aversion to medication, I just don’t feel like taking meds. Also whether I take it or not I feel the same. I could be off of it for 6 months or more. I don’t notice any changes. But if I have to face something sensitive or negative then I feel very nervous and lonely. Only reason I take a dose here Or there is because I am scared to loose control of myself. I don’t know if is safe to stop taking meds completely. And try some other techniques to deal with this depression and anxiety. I have lack
Of motivation for just about anything.
Does anyone else deal with similar issues.

HI no wonder your meds aren't helping as you need to take them as prescribed and every day because of the accumulative effect. However if you wish to stop taking them completely that is your choice and you will have to take the self help route.
There is lots of info online about over the counter herbal remedies so have a look.
Also check out mindfulness, meditation, yoga etc. x
I believe we all need to find some way to function in this world and it is absolutely your choice for a modality that makes you comfortable.
I take Lithium and use Trazedone for sleep. For anxiety and depression I'm currently using Myofascial Release, Acupuncture, and a Practitioner for Chinese Herbal Medicine and Bach Flower Remedies.
Unfortunately these are obviously not covered by insurance. I have a long history and have tried a myriad of medications and I also came to my limit with side effects and weight gain.
One area I struggle with is finding a support system. An online group is great - but being involved in-person is something I lack.
Tapering meds with a professional vs going cold turkey is recommended. Keep searching and hopefully you will find your way.
taking SSRI's is not like a take as you need kind of medication....it often takes up to 2 weeks of taking your meds daily for there to be a difference. Benzo's, Xanax etc. can effect you on a take as you go kind of basis but not anti-depressants. If anything....stopping and starting them irregularly can cause an adverse back lash of symptoms, often cold turkey effects are very negative and can be highly dangerous.......I would suggest that you stop if you see no benefit to them on a slow weening off them and supervised by your doctor.
