Anybody successfully quit taking Ambien to sleep?

I started relying on it for sleep a couple of years ago after a traumatic event. Didn't feel like an "addiction" because it didn't escalate. One pill would do it, pretty reliably. But about six months ago, I had some major losses and upheavals and sleep became the only thing I looked forward to. I've done some meditation, but that makes me anxious ("why isn't it working?!"). My insurance won't cover a rehab stint for this, but that feels like the only thing that would help: put me in a hospital and have nurses get me through withdrawal. Anybody have success in quitting Ambien?

I took it, didn't do much for me, so I stopped taking it. It was not big deal. The person who regulates your medicine should decide the best way to taper off and then perhaps find something else that would work. I never stopped a medicine and went through withdrawal, I don't know if it is different for everyone because we are all different biochemically. I wish you luck.

I stopped a few years ago. I don’t recall it being difficult.

I did. It was hard. I had terrible nightmares for a while and was really tired. Now I listen to rain sounds on my phone to put me to sleep.
