My name is Anna. I struggle with anxiety and depression and I am currently taking remeron to help my insomnia due to my anxiety. I have a story to share because my anxiety is through the roof over this and I can’t do anything but focus on this. I’m worried I may sound dumb for my story and I apologize but I’m close to having a panic attack over it so I thought I would share it here. So I went to the dentist to get a composite veneer because of the shape of my tooth and the dentist did a horrible job and I said it was bad but she rushed me out and said she’d fix it next week. It looks so bad and I’m having thoughts like “what if it will stay like this forever” “what if she can’t fix it and I’m left with it”, “what if she fixes it and then it chips”. I’m worried she won’t be able to fix it since she did such a bad job the first time. These what ifs are driving me crazy and I can’t focus on anything but thinking that I’ll be stuck with it forever. I’m really worried and I can’t stop thinking these thoughts and any support would help a lot. Thank you, Anna

I'm sure the dentist will correct her mistake next week, and everything will be fine. It's just anxiety that is letting these negative thoughts run wild in your mind. Please don't get too worked up over a relatively minor problem. Just be sure it looks okay to you after she corrects it, because you have the right to get what you paid for. In the meantime, try to distract yourself. You'll look great after your next visit.
Hi there, sorry to hear about your story and I don't blame you for being worried, however dentists are human and make mistakes to, do not think I would panic to much yet, I would first give her the opportunity to fix her mistake, chances are she will do a good job especially if you tell her how concerned you are and how upset you have been hopefully she will take extra care with the tooth next time around,, good luck keep us informed
What coping techniques do you use when you are anxious? Mindfulness? Distraction? For me, I tell my self “this isn’t a productive thought.” Then, I like to come up with 3 good things in that moment. Things that make me happy or bring me joy. Redirecting my thoughts to more positive thoughts seems to help me. Good luck!
