I’ve had serious social anxiety in the past, but over the course of a few years it’s gotten a lot better. I’m not scared of people anymore, but I’m stuck in a habit of avoiding social settings. I don’t like to communicate, even though there is not much fear holding me back like there used to be. Is this just a bad habit or is there a different reason for this?

Welcome. I'm new here too. The people I have talked to have been very supportive and kind. I too have anxiety about social situations, but sometimes I just read and when I'm ready I communicate. Happy you are here.
Are you shy? Or an introvert? If you wanted to, would you talk with others? I’m a really shy person and just enjoy listening to people more than talking with them. Does that seem like how you are currently?
I isolate a lot too. I have a very social job but when I get home to a house full of in-laws and my own family I stay alone until bedtime. I just feel like I can't relate to anyone. I don't have much to share and no one talks to me anyway. It's rough to feel alone but making an effort brings on so much anxiety and I run back to my room. I don't know how to change this about me either.
