I did it!!!! πŸ’ͺ🏻

I survived 12 hours night time shift

First one after three months of leave.

After facing terrible anxiety over entire week plus really struggling with a hit of depression.

I did it.

If I could do it - YOU CAN DO IT !!!

Congratulations!!! You are amazing, returning to work after being on leave is so hard. The fact that you did this after struggling for different reasons is something you should be really proud of.im proud of you and I'm definitely looking up to you right now. I was on leave for 6 months due to an accident. I'm back to work this week on a reduced schedule. It's been terrifying and I've wanted to walk out every day. But I made it. Thank you for giving me hope today.

So I have a day shift tomorrow. Worry cause now it’s another big ball: all the people. There will be my boss and the owner and many other that I fear to face. I somehow feel that I shouldn’t had gone for the break at the first place so you know: guilt trip, humiliation and huge huge submission. Tell me how are you doing? Did you talk with your manager?

Ohmy21 profile image

That is completely normal feeling. I wish I could say those feelings went away but I still struggle with them. Honestly, some people like my manager asked me how I was doing. My old manager I was honest with but my new manager I didn't say anything to. I just kept stuff to a minimum, if you want to deflect the attention off of you then I'd suggest asking people how they are doing. Even if you don't care about them, you don't have to share your reason for being gone so you just say " hi, how are you? How is your family? Any new updates on what is going on around here. "

I employed this tactic and it helped for two reasons: 1) I didn't give people a chance to ask about my leave and 2) it distracted my brain from my anxious thoughts because I was forcing my brain to ask questions and keep busy

Thank you. These are terrific advices! I will try using them tomorrow. I should wake up in five hours but still no sleep in my head..

Amazing! Congrats! Reward yourself for this! It could be anything from a bubble bath to a spa day in the house to going out to your favorite place to eat. When you reward yourself, it encourages your strength and praises your strong abilities. It is also good for strengthening your mind so next time, it'll increase the likelihood of you doing the shift without feeling anxiety.

WOW, what a great job! You sure did do it! Coming from all your anxiety, this is a truly amazing accomplishment! You have taught us a very valuable lesson - we are stronger than we think we could ever be! In California, I'm rejoicing for you!

Exactly! This is what my post is all about: we are way stronger than our anxiety tells us. It only takes to β€œbe”. It’s snowing badly in Krakow, we need your SUNSHINE, California :)

Unfortunately I need assistance in my daily life. Otherwise I’m only sleeping. I also need guidance as it seems to me that whatever I touch turns into problems. I wish my mum or my sister be that to me. However no one in my family believes in my sickness. Everybody just thinks I’m lazy.

NCAQuilter profile image
NCAQuilterβ€’ in reply toOrangeblossom85

We know differently, don't we? Lazy is not our problem. Whenever we have to do a task, our mind and body feel like they just ran uphill for five miles. People are tired when they do that! It takes an enormous amount of energy to be depressed and/or deal with anxiety!

One thing that has helped me during the winter, is taking vitamin D3. I get Seasonal Affective Disorder during winter, and we don't even have the brutal winters you do. Lack of sunshine (vitamin D3) during winter months can make depression worse. Ask your doctor about it. Here in the USA, we don't need a prescription, it's on store shelves.

Maybe, for your mother, you could print out an article about depression and anxiety for her to read. Seeing the truth about what you are dealing with may help her understand you better. The Mayo Clinic, here in the US, has good articles. They are a world respected hospital, at the leading edge of health care. Also Wikipedia has good articles. They may help.

Take care

Thank you!!! My mum recently told me that I need d3. I will buy and start taking. They advice 2000 three times a day. Here in Poland winter takes six months and... there’s almost no sun at all. Only smog and big fat layers of clouds.

My mum is a nurse. She used to work for the biggest psychiatric hospital in Poland. My sister she’s a doctor. :D I’m only lazy ;D
