What to do when your mom is judging based on how u look ??? I’m feeling extremely down.

Dinner with her today . She looked at me and said “ you know what , your soo small , soo tiny , so skinny. U need to get fitted and get ur muscles bigger , ur muscles isn’t bigger that’s why ur soo skinny. Nobody would want a skinny and short person from job. U don’t have any degree people will look down on you . You better go back to university. And most of all get a good job.” Deep down inside I was soo hurt, and feeling pain. But I pretend to be smiling. I’ve suffered from Nephritis lupus which inflamed my kidney and suffering from Pulmonary embolism and has to be on blood thinner need to be monitored all the time , twice a week or once a week need to get my bloodwork. These things disease prevented me from working and studying. Although I have an anxiety and depression , I didn’t tell her that I have it. But I hope she knows. My heart is soo aching like a knife stabbed in to my heart. I have no one to turn in to. That’s why I turned mysbelf in to here . I hope that everyone can understand me and give me any comfort and encouragement. Thanks .😰😰

You are just fine the way you are. It sounds like you are taking good care of yourself and doing what you need to. I would not take to heart what she said. Employers do not take your size into account when hiring you. A lot of people do not have degrees either, and that is ok. You are still a desirable person through and through.

I agree with Krn210. Your size and weight don't matter in getting a job unless you are wanting to be a NBA player. 😊

I don't know why your mom said the things that she did. Sometimes people who are unhappy with their own life tend to make those kind of comments.

And she kept on saying no one gonna love you and marry you because u look soo short and tiny skinny. Those were very harsh words from a mother .

That doesn't even make sense. Plenty of men like petite women or don't care about their size. Personality, humor and a caring heart are what matter to me and I'm sure many men are the same way. Employers want hard working dedicated employees; size is not an issue. I don't even get why she said those comments.

I know that it is easier said than done, but don't let her comments get to you.

Yeh I’m trying to get rid of her rude comments. But I’m still feeling like a shit when she said “ any man would dump and leave you because u have soo much health problems with kidney and lung and no one gonna love and marry u. They will be scare of u. “ I’ve been with my man for 4 years and he has never say anything like that to me . I don’t kkow how can a mother say such hurtful words to me . Sometimes I feel like maybe I’m such a Burden for her .

As a mother myself, I know I can come across as very harsh in my attempt to motivate my kids to action. You should talk to your mom about how her words make you feel. You should also talk to a professional about your depression. Depression is real and could also be making your other conditions worse.
