My doc is allowing a short course of this till I meet with new psychiatrist to help me get sleep as anxiety is very bad at night. Really does work but very sleepy next day. Dose is only .5. Will this wear off should I just try to keep busy till it does. Half the dose isn’t quite enough right now. What’s everyone else done.

Ativan
It won't take long before you develop a tolerance and the sedation effects will dissipate. Take the smallest effective dose for the shortest period of time that you can. This med is habit forming, highly addictive, and can be very difficult/unpleasant to stop once you have been on it for a while. For the very short term it is a viable solution for insomnia, just be aware what you're getting into if you take this med for longer than the short term. Be well.
Yes I know the negative aspects but it’s what I have to get me to that appointment. From there the doc will probably lay out a new direction hopefully involving a med
That doesn’t make me as sick as Lexapro and cbt. I’m being as careful as I can. I am allowed one at morning one at night so far I’ve been managing just at night
Some people need to take medication like Ativan or other benzos for the long term if the benefits outweigh the risks. They can truly change a person's life for the better, even long term if necessary, and there is nothing wrong with that if it is medically necessary. Sadly, many that end up as long term benzo users didn't intend to become beholden to them. For many long term use becomes a nightmare, but for a small subset of people the medication is a Godsend if taken at the lowest effective dose as prescribed. Be well!
