Today’s Lesson

If there’s one lesson that I took away from today, it’s to always try to understand a persons background and personal experiences and struggles before making assumptions/judgements. I feel that people judge me or criticize me for being too shy and timid - but they don’t know that my mother abandoned me when I was young and I lived with my emotionally abusive stepmother for the rest of my childhood and found it easier to stay quiet and hidden. Everyone has their own story and their own reasons for being the way they are.

I couldn't agree with you more. I also grew up in an emotionally/mentally abusive home. And like you, I learned very early to not talk and to be as invisible as I could. I've kept everything bottled up all my life and avoided people as much as I could. I can come across as unfriendly and shy because I have trouble relating and bonding with people. There are times I feel like I'm being judged but I try not to let it bother me. I do my best not to judge others for the same reason. There will always be those who judge others and look down on them and all we can do is try not to let it bother us.

Completely agree with you, very insightful.

I suffer from social anxiety, and people judge me as well because they don’t know.

I also lived in an abusive situation. I was adopted and my adoptive mom & two adoptive brothers tormented me unmercifully my entire childhood. I still shudder from thinking about it sometimes. By the way, welcome aboard ACA85. Nice to have you. I suffer from several things that make me socially uncomfortable. I get flack from people all the time who don't understand why I want to stay in and not be around large groups of people, even my friends themselves. I stopped caring what a lot of them think. Until they walk a mile in my shoes we have no common ground to speak from.

That’s great to be able to stop caring about what others are thinking about you. Sounds like you’ve come a long way to get to where you are now so if anything you should be proud of yourself!

So I've been told by many of my 'real' friends! Thank you! I practice putting one foot in front of the other to keep going. I would like to think we are all capable of that! Have a blessed day!

Hello 🤗. Why can't people just live their lives without wondering about the next person? Should it matter if everyone is not a chatterbox? Don't be afraid to be you. I wouldn't be considered normal by society's standards either. I'm different and quiet at times. But that's me. Be you and don't worry about what others think ☺.

No problem ☺.

Welcome to you. I’m glad you found us here..

I totally agreee with you.

People are far too quick to judge others, when they know nothing about them.

Good wishes to you 🌺🌺

I agree! I find that life is so much more enjoyable when I'm not trying to tell everyone else how to live. I also find life is better when I continue working on myself...I don't even have time to try to tell everyone else their problems and how to fix them. Are you still working on finding your own place of wellbeing? Seeing how much better my own life is, while I still don't have it all together, I hope others can have the same experience.
