My opinion. Facebook can be ok as long as you don't get too hooked up in it. Basically most of what you see isn't real. Seeing all these "happy " pictures of people is an image they want to create; you don't know what is going on behind closed doors but it often isn't as straightforward as that. So yes I can definately see how facebook can make depression a lot worse. I would severely limit my time on it and understand most of it is just an image and not the whole rounded truth about people.

You are not alone on this! I deleted Facebook at the beginning of last summer. Too many triggers for me. My stepmom that drives me crazy, looking at ex boyfriends pages etc It has been a huge relief not having it!

Facebook or ‘Fakebook’ definitely adds to depression. I wish I never opened an account. It’s addictive. Seeing everyone’s ‘perfect’ lives is not good for those of us struggling with anxiety and depression. Keep saying that I am going go close my account..I close it ...then I reopen it....it’s sick,

Hey no one has a perfect life...don't buy into that one. Everyone has problems..you just don't know what they are & they aren't saying. Love, peace, light, joy & hugs!

By no means are you alone. I have cut WAY back on my Facebook usage, to the point that in recent years I've gone for months at a time without using or looking at it at all.

I've informed those I most care about that they can still reach me by email (not Facebook email--my private independent email) and phone. To my pleasant surprise, this has resulted in a higher quality of communication with a few people completely outside the context of Facebook.

Cut the Facebook cord--or at least wrap it up and put it away, pulling it out only when absolutely essential for some reason (and I find it rarely is). Doing so may very well improve the quality of your most important relationships, and therefore your life.
