ILL, GUILT, and SHAME

I still can't get over my guilt, shame and stupidity, after about a week of being seizure active. This all provoked: shame for bothering others to care for me, guilt for emotional and physical injuries to those trying to care for me, and the harsh feeling of stupidity for breaking or losing petsonal items that now, and somehow need to be replaced. WHY WOULDN'T I BE BETTER OFF DEAD!

There are many reasons why people choose to be alive, but it’s hard to find which reasons apply to ourselves. I don’t know you, but you’re better off alive because of what you can do. I don’t know if you already are, but you can become an example of hope for others dealing with what you are. That’s worth life isn’t it? Making others feel happy or at least just hopeful.

You are better off alive because there are people who love and care for you - those you feel guilty about bothering! If you self destroyed, their pain would be intense.

When you come out of this episode of pain, try to remember what helped you. Pass that on to others on the forum. We need to hear it. And, we need to hear what triggered your episode, if you know, so we can avoid or deal with those triggers.

I get the impression you've been in this situation before. Remember, you've always pulled through. You will, this time, too. Talk to those who will listen - those on this site, for example. Talking out your pain can help calm it. We're here for you.
