Yes. It does help. I have benefitted from a variety of approaches. I am fortunate that my therapist works with me individually to meet my needs. I have learned that my anxiety always begins with a thought. If I can recognize the thought and dispute it, the anxiety lessens. I may have to do other things as well, such as meditating or stretching.
That’s awesome it worked for you! No matter how much I research Cognitive Therapy, I don’t understand what it does. Would you mind telling me about it? I’d really appreciate it ☺️
Look up Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). They both believe that irrational and distorted beliefs are the core of our distress. Also thoughts lead to emotions which lead to behavior. Address the thoughts, and the behavior will start to change. That is a very simplified version. Does that help?
Yes, cognitive behavioral therapy. It is the therapeutic approach of choice for anxiety and depression.
Try to find a therapist who blends CBT with other approaches. It's amazing how much a well-rounded therapist can help...
Yes, I found that it helped me for sure! But everyone is different so if it doesn't work for you, don't give up!
