So I went to the Dr today because I hurt my back in the gym. They took my bp and I saw it was 135 over 80 which is prettt hard for me. I get home and take my bp like 10 times. I start googling blood pressure and I start freaking out. My bp shot up to 159. I should know better by now. Every time I obsess over my vitals I go into full panic. Of coarse now I am tired and dizzy from all the excitement. Anxiety seriously sucks.

I don't know how many times I've read on this site that people "googled" some symptom they had, and then they start freaking out and assuming the worst. If that's not the best reason not to google symptoms, I don't know what is! Take your health concerns to a doctor, and let him or her evaluate you.

As for your BP, I don't know how old you are, but 135 / 80 is not terribly high, especially if you are having pain from your injury. And yes, the more upset you get, the higher it will go.

I read about a method of checking BP written by an MD: Sit in a chair completely still for 5 minutes. Then take your pressure. Wait another 5 minutes, and take it again. Wait another 5 minutes and take it a third time. The lowest reading is the one you go with.

My doctor always takes my BP a second time at the end of my visit, because it always drops - usually by a lot.

I wish you the best.

Thank you l. Rookie mistake. I was having a decent day cuz the lexapro was working. I’m letting the Dr do that from now on. Well good day except the back thing. Now I feel like crap

I’m 35 and I’ve been under a lot of stress lately. My diet has also not been the best.

I'm not a doctor, but I know that you have to keep track of your BP over a period of time to see if it's really higher than normal. Since you suffer from anxiety and you just hurt your back, I am not surprised that your BP is higher than 120 / 80. Any kind of physical or mental stress will raise your BP. Again, please discuss all concerns you have about this with your doctor next time. Let him earn his fee.

You were in a doctor's office so of course that BP rose. Don't worry so much about it because that really wasn't that high. I'm taking BP medication and it's no big deal if you have to but sounds like you don't need it. Word of advice quit taking your BP at home and let you DR decide if its to high. You're fine, just believe that and stop worrying about something that isn't there if you can,. I know easier said than done !! Great big hugs, it lowers the BP , so feel my hug for 5 min!!!

Thank you so much today. I had a long night. I’m a little numb today so I think I was having waves of panic attacks. I’m super bummed I thought the lexapro was working and then that happened. It is definitely my trigger
