I am 50 years old and I have generalized anxiety and depression. I was diagnosed in 2013. I am currently not taking anything for it and I am hiding it from my family. I have bad thoughts and it scares the hell out of me. What should I do? I feel trapped!

Is it possible to talk to your family about it and seek out treatment. It would probably help.

Hello beautiful creation! Talk to your family and friends about your anxiety and depression because they love you and will be a good support system for you. It might be a help to see a therapist and consider medication. There are some excellent resources here that I think can also be of value for you ( bit.ly/2mFxWoz). Hugs.

Please seek help even if its only from a close friend or family member you trust.

It realy helps to talk about your fears and share how you feel, ut does not always make it go away but it releases the pressure of keeping it inside.

I wish you happiness and light

I was recently in the hospital for about two weeks because I hid how I felt from my family. I finally reached the point where it sounds like you might be where I was having “this needs to end one way or another” thoughts. I was so scared of my thoughts that I had to just release everything and opened up.

It’s no different than if you were having abdominal pain or some other illness. Being hospitalized for two weeks wasn’t fun and it was (and still is) a lot of work, but it is well worth it. I believe it saved my life.

Now that my family knows how I feel and how my brain works and that it’s ok to not understand everything but just be supportive, we’re all able to be more open and that’s a huge step in starting to feel better or like “your regular self” again. Not everybody needs to be hospitalized, but being open is a huge first step. Like everything else you do for your overall health, take it one step at a time.

Let me know how I can help or if you’d like to talk more. All the best to you!

If you are opposed to taking prescriptions, you might try some natural remedies. I don’t know how you feel about them but CBD, Kratom, and cannabis have really helped some people. I am taking Kratom and I’ve never felt better. I’m 37, I’ve had major depression and anxiety as long as I can remember. I know for me, I can never feel good without some help. I’ve tried therapy and prescriptions.
