Hi there. I am trying this site because I have never been good at connecting with the world around me, I mean let’s be honest- people are intimidating. I have anxiety that’s gradually gotten worse during my junior and senior years of college. I am trying ground techniques because the breathing techniques make my hyperventilate.
Here’s one:
5 things you can see
4 things you can feel
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste

Grounding is a good approach therapy for anxiety LeciLou.
I use it myself however my go to is daily meditation and deep breathing.
They both take time and practice to get to the point where you can reverse
your off breathing automatically w/o thinking.
Breathing properly is the key to anxiety. It can change the chemical reactions to stress within moments. But right now, do what works best for you. I go to YouTube where I
listen to different approaches to lowering anxiety and panic which do work. Mindfulness (living in the moment), Self hypnosis, Relaxation/meditation, Grounding etc. Some of the speakers on these videos have calming, soothing voices that now within seconds of hearing their voice, I go into deep relaxation.
LeciLou, you will never find us intimidating but open to sharing our experiences with each
other and learning and helping each other on this part of our journey with anxiety and it's issues. I'm glad you're here with us. You just found a supportive virtual family. xx
