Hi friend! I take the same medication the same day I received it I took it I woke up in the middle of the night. I was dizzy and very nauseated. I also notice during the day I yawn so much. Right now I take half of it to help with some of the side effects.

How long have you been taking it?

Only about a couple weeks

Do you notice a difference?

So far it has helped me. I don’t know if it’s in my mind. I feel it has helped me calm down some. Maybe once it hits the one month mark, it will work completely

So happy for you! Stick in there

Thank you! I’m trying.. I still have my days and moments but one day at a time

I used to take lexapro 10 mg & it helped me a lot. I didn’t notice any side effects, but I take something different now. Good luck on it! 😊

If you don't mind me asking why did you stop taking it?

in reply to

I stopped taking it when I was pregnant & didn’t take any anti depressants.

in reply to

oh ok, do you like the medicine that youre on now?

in reply to

Nope, I’m on Prozac & it has my hands & leg itching. I’ve been on it for two months now & I already broke out in hives. The hives went away, but I still don’t like it. It comes & goes. My depression has gotten better tho. No panic attacks either besides one a few weeks ago.

I’ve been taking lexapro for probably 10 years now. It’s been great for me! I took a couple of others at the beginning but lexapro seemed to work the best. I actually take 30 mg. 1 20mg pill at night and half in the morning. I don’t remember having any bad side effects when starting it.

that's awesome I hope it does the same for me

everyone is effected differently...what works for me may not work for someone else. I would not mess with the dosage you were prescribed to take...as it takes a good couple of weeks for your med to fully kick in....and there is no earth moving moment...you just start to feel a bit better...the lights are a little brighter in the room...but your still going to have the ups and downs....just more levelled out. Hope this works out well for you, but always ask your doctor for advice on prescription medications.

I take 10 mgs and have been on it for about three years. It has helped with low peaks. The only side effect was that it gave me dry mouth at the beginning.

in reply toMarshall64

has the dry mouth gone away?

It is weird (but then again I am 😊), I noticed it more with the name brand than the generic. All I needed to do was drink more water which i needed to do anyway. It was very minor but it noticed it. It did go away.

Good luck with it. It is supposed to be one of the better antidepressants, at least as far as side effects go. I had good luck with it.

I went through tough times and definitely needed to taper on and off of lexipro. It’s an stimulate that will helps you get to a point where you feel a bit more calm. There are side effects to every medication, but don’t be afraid of trying. If you have serious physical side effect consult your doctor. I had to switch medications sometimes. The one thing is not to go cold turkey, you will not be a happy camper. I am thankful I took the medication in the past because I was getting so much anxiety I needed it at the time.

Side effects like dry mouth, etc aren’t nice, but they are normal! You can do this 💪

The medication will relax you but it will take a little time. It won’t happen overnight.
