I am new to this forum. I have been feeling extremely Anxious for a past 2 weeks now. It is mostly work related and I mostly end up thinking worst case scenario related to my future. It is causing me trouble to sleep and have lost appetite completely. Recently I started feeling chills as well even when it is really warm. I need help how to tackle this problem.

Hi am04 and welcome! Anxiety has a way of painting the worst picture possible and convincing us that it's going to come true. When you have these catastrophic thoughts, maybe try to tell yourself that they are irrational and then think about some realistic situations for yourself. The mind tends to believe the negative but we can counteracted with positive and realistic thinking. Hope you feel better😊

Thanks for reply IheartDogs

I have been trying to tell myself that everything will be fine but it only works for couple of minutes. I end up having same thouts again. Sometimes I just don't feel like getting out of bed and going to work. I even go for a walk outside to distract myself. Take breaks while I am at work. Some rare days it works but mostly it doesn't. I also think of I talk to my friends about problem I am facing they will just call me a whimp and crybaby.

Are you currently seeing a therapist? Are you on any medication?

No, not seeing a therapist and taking any medication. I thought being on this forum and get some tips might be helpful

If you want to share, what are you anxious about at work? Is it about losing your job or having too much work responsibilities or difficulties with co-workers?

I feel that I am not doing my job well enough. And I would be fired. Sometimes I just don't feel like facing my co workers. Plus I am working on a visa here and the thought of losing my status is adding to anxiety

Do you have any evidence that you are not doing a good job? Or are you just making up a negative scenario in your head? Our mind is very very strong.

I recently made a couple of mistakes at work which has made me believe that I am not doing a good job.

I am also curious if you have only had anxiety for the last two weeks, and not in the past?

In the past I had anxiety sometimes and it would subside in a couple of days. It wasn't this extreme as well. But this time I am having anxiety continuously and it's taken toll physically as well.
