What Medications do you take?

I want a more as needed prescription. Currently, I have Ativan but I know my doctor is hesitant in giving it out since it’s apparently an addictive prescription. So I was wanting to know if there are any natural pills or what pills I can ask for that are as needed? Long-term/short-term effects?

Addds, more recently, doctors have been turning to SSRIs to quiet down anxiety as well as help with some depressions. I don't get into holistic meds myself but there are others on the site who can add to my response. x

i have had severe depression and anxiety, in the past. I have taken the traditional medications, with limited results, over time. i was given xanax, as needed for severe anxiety. It worked, but I was concerned about the addictive qualities. I searched for something else. Here is what I found. Among other websites, here is one that is clear and easy to understand. It is also from a medical doctor, who has become interested in a more holistic approach.

For myself, I have found xanax is no longer needed. I have also quit taking Celexa; quit working, anyway. I take ionic magnesium, GABA, Vitamin D3, and vitamin/mineral supplement - all are organic, high quality. I also eliminated processed food from diet, eat more fruits and vegetables, eat less red meat, more chicken. All are organic food. I view organic food as one of the medicines I take for better health. The change to organic food took several years. It was not a quick transition for me. Giving up traditional food can be difficult, as toxic chemical flavor enhancers are used, especially in processed food. There also seems to be an addictive quality , but I could not say for sure.
