Hello all. Just found and joined this group today. I'm a 30-something woman who recently (within the past few months) developed severe anxiety. It tends to come in attacks that involve a lot of shaking, dizziness, accelerated breathing, and finally an inability to stand/walk. Typically the onset is social, when I have company at my house, or go out on my own (in which case the "social" aspect are folks walking or driving around me).

I've always had low-level anxiety, and had my first panic attack years ago in grad school. Until this year I had not had additional ones; now they are a regular feature, and it has hampered my ability to work, to travel, to do basic things like shopping by myself. I'm trying to combat it with good nutrition, meditation, stretching, etc., but nothing has been very successful yet.

I'm looking forward to learning with and from you as a community.

I feel your pain. It is terrifying and often unexplainable, I know. IF you do a deep dive reading on the subject you will come up with a sustainable self soothing regiment. Beware of SIRI's and learn to condition yourself with lifestyle fixes is a good thing as you are doing. I continuously monitor my "future tripping" and trying not to overthink things.

Welcome to the jungle.

Hi and welcome! Sorry your life is in turmoil due to your anxiety. Have you sought any professional help? Sounds like you need it. You don't want to live this way I'm sure. What kinds of things do you do to calm yourself? Does anything help? Keep posting. Others may have some suggestions.

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your anxiety. I too suffer and have since I was about 15 years old. I am now 33. I thought it was getting better but then it hit me head on. I too suffer with the social anxiety along with depression, ptsd and panic attacks. I try to live a normal life as much as possible but the anxiety is pretty much taking over. I am married and my husband does his best to understand. I just wanted to reach out to you and let you know that you are not alone. I thought that myself for so long and was so ashamed of it for so long. I basically live with it alone most of the time. If you ever need to talk. I am here. It's always nice to talk to someone that understands. I recently started to seek help from a doctor. I have never been on medication for any of it, so i can always let you know how it goes.
