I am a young adult who has just come to terms with suffering from social anxiety. In the past, I have been dismissive about seeking help thinking that I could do it on my own. Joining this online community is my admission of needing help and my first step towards getting this help. I hope that this corner of the web can provide me some solace, and I can hopefully give back as well. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Welcome to the group. You are being brave by taking this step. Please allow yourself to celebrate! You will find comfort in other people's stories and the encouragement you can give them. And you will get support when you are struggling.
My son has social anxiety. It started when he was 16. He didn’t want to leave the house for 3 years. When he was 17 I took him to my psychiatrist for medication and then to my therapist. He has come over many hurdles since then. He had trouble even going to get his license. He was able to past the written test but not the drivers test until he was 22. He was also afraid to drive. Now he’s 24 and has a job. He was put on lexapro and has been going to therapy still. He also has depression. I feel for you so much after my son struggles. It’s a terrible thing to watch young people struggle. I’m sending my love 💕 and hope you can get the help you need. ❤️
