Ever since I’ve began college I’ve had severe anxiety. Ever since I’ve decided to be honest with my teachers they suggest that I should join the disabled program on campus. I don’t consider myself disabled but my panic attacks during exams cause me to fail and not concentrate on the material. The disabled program would let me take it in another room. I feel like I’m being unfair to everyone by getting special treatments for my condition that I feel like maybe I could get through this. Is this a valid disability ? Or should I just find other things to help me cope through making this decision?

Is Panic Attacks During A Test A Mental Disability?
Hi I am not sure what you mean by a valid disability. There is no criteria to measure this as it is often subjective. and you are over thinking it.
If taking your exams in a separate room is offered and this will help you to take them then bite their hands off. Everyone gets stressed when taking exams but because of your severe anxiety you need a little bit of extra help so of course it's fair. You wouldn't have been offered the option if it wasn't considered necessary.
Good luck with your exams. x

Well, having been to college many moons ago, ( Ha) I know what it is to sweat before a test. I cannot tell you what to do or what you have, but I would get to the bottom of this. What will happen when you get a job after college- will you freak every time the boss comes? If you don't now, maybe you can study with some other students and pace yourself - ask each other questions etc. Talk to professors about suggestions also. It's common to be nervous before a test or a presentation.
Also, remember you are not on a battlefield or living in a war zone so I hope that helps also.
