Hello I have a history of anxiety Depression and IBS but it stopped bothering me for awhile without medication. A few weeks ago the e.r. doctor prescribed me prednisone for an ear infection 60mg for 5 days. Everyday that I took it I felt extremely anxious, shaky, nervous, unfocused, and sweaty. I finished the 5 days and began to start having multiple panic attacks back to back. It even put me in the e.r. because my hr wouldn't come down and blood pressure shot up all while my stomach is screaming for me to go to the bathroom. Anyway it's been a few weeks now and I still find myself anxious and running into panic attacks.. I'm really trying to stay encouraged and tell myself that this will pass. They put me on Lexapro and Xanax but the Lexapro just made me more depressed so I stopped... I started trying some holistic meds in hopes that it can bring about the same results.any help is greatly appreciated!

Anxiety Depression and IBS
I’m sorry the prednisone caused a type of relapse. Steroids are tricky on the mental health. I too have anxiety and major depression, as well as high bp. I’ve found that yoga and meditation are helpful for anxiety and I use an app called buddhify to help w guided meditation.
And luckily my BP comes down after the panic subsides🙏🙏
I honestly couldn’t tell you if I’ve been on steroids or not, I have really bad short term memory loss from ECT treatments, so it’s hard for me to remember all the meds I’ve been on, but I know from when I was a veterinary technician that steroids would cause personality changes in people’s pets sometimes. Also my grandfather got real grumpy when he was on some for a short while. That’s great that your BP comes back down!
