Music, is in my core and a very important part of me but as much as it can help it also hurts, songs that were once linked to happy memories now turn into triggers for anxiety and sadness, just wondering if anybody here has that same relationship with music.

I definitely do have the same connection to music as you do Svtempus. I enjoy music but like you too many songs remind me of special moments in my life that can bring on intense feelings whether good or bad. The outcome is the same...anxiety, sadness and the symptoms of anxiety from just feeling emotional. I've had music surround me all my life that I cannot use it to relax.
Music also helps me . I can get lost in it. Sure I think almost everyone links a song to past memories and hurts. It’s easy to get hurt but I’m sure there are some songs that you have good memories. I watch America’s Got Talent and the Voice videos everyday. There are some I listen to all the time. What kind of music do you like? Rap and Hip Hop is my first choice
Most music I listen to reminds me of all the fun I had when I was younger. I shared a room with my brother and we had an old hi-fi stereo system in our room from the early 80s. It had a turn table, 8 track player, and the newer cassette tape deck in it. Along with the fm radio. It had these huge speakers. We used to listen to everything on it. My mom and uncle gave us their record collection. My uncle had a lot Rolling Stones and rock while my mother was into Motown. We also listened to modern rock at the time. My brother was a huge hair metal fan back then. Then the early 90s we moved onto compact discs. The hi-fi was replaced with a 6 disc CD player. We used the old speakers though.
