Hi everyone, I just filled out some screening forms... I got like anxiety and a lot of stuff... Feeling overwhelmed... I should see a therapist or doctor but I am afraid to approach my parents. They know that I get worried but this is gonna be so intense like "I think I have a mental illness, can we go see a therapist?" and I am just SO AFRAID TO DO IT
I cant bring myself to do it... So, I JUST DO MORE RESEARCH UGH come on! I need to stop and just TELL them already.

Is there anywhere you can pick up some leaflets explaining anxiety and depression , and other mental illnesses relevant to you,,and give them to them to read. Not sure what country you are in , I’m in uk and we have a charity called Mind who provide leaflets. Or you could print off some stuff off the internet around mental health, just thinking it’s a Way to start a conversation.
You deserve some help to feel better and once your parents know I’m guessing you can get the help and support via therapy and your dr.
OMG this was so helpful, thank you so much! I think this is the most helpful information I have had so far... No one replies on other websites! I am very glad I joined healthunlocked. This is a great way to start a conversation.... I think maybe I will print out some booklets and maybe some screening pages that I did online. Also, I am in the US but thank u so much!
I want to look up Mind either way because it sounds helpful.. If I don't find anything I will just look for booklets. I am still very scared to approach them although I shouldn't be... I feel like it will cost a lot of money and my parents already have to pay for my brother and sister in college and then me AND AGHHHH I'm so worried. This is just like me. Worried. Haha. Well, I have to try telling them to get the conversation started and from there they will act and get me care and stuff. They are great parents - I just worry about everything.. I NEED TO GET THIS OVER WITH Hahaha its almost 12 am here and I have been researching and talking to helplines and online chats but this was the most helpful. Thanks!
Ah I’m so pleased it helped, it’s a way to start the conversation with some good advice for them in print offs. Because sometimes it’s difficult to talk and say how we feel. You can choose things you would like them to read too 😊
Take one day at a time , easy to say I know but try not to think too far ahead..and remember small steps can achieve big things.
I’m wishing you well, things can improve with the right input, it takes time and patience.
