Just had my first session

My therapist thinks it’s a chemical imbalance. My mom and two sisters are also depressed and on medication and my aunt was once suicidal. So now I have to find a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner in my area and also pay out of pocket because I have no health insurance. Any advice?

In my city there are emergency psychiatric services where you can be evaluated and given one month of meds for free. They then direct you to free or low cost clinics that can help you with psych services and medication. Have you tried to google these types of services in your area?

I’m not sure if there is one here but I know there are low cost places. I was gonna go to one but the building is very intimidating and kinda scared me off. I’m gonna leave a message with one of the places and hope they get back to me soon.

Yes, the place I went to was intimidating to me as well however they were kind and helped me. Unfortunately the meds they gave me have not worked. I did check in my my psychiatrist that I normally work with and he has put me on a different antidepressant. Today is my third day on it and praying to God it works. I’d be happy to go with you to the psych services if we lived in the same city.
