The journey begins now when your start reaching out for answers....writing about it, and getting feedback, please read some of the others posts here to see how others are dealing with this stuff too, it's very helpful. And if your not in therapy.....you may want to see whats available to you...having a professional help guide you and help you understand these feelings will help tremendously, if you get the right one for you. Sometimes you have to try a few different therapists.
My insomnia started over 20 years ago. It wasn't until the last 5 years that I realized I have PTSD from childhood trauma. Not just depression, and anxiety. To me these are symptoms of PTSD. I still don't sleep well most nights but I do use a melatonin or have a small sip of Nyquil when I go for too many days in a row of unrest and cannot function. I hope this helps.
