Today is my grandsons birthday and party and I am stuck in my bed too. It is your day though and no others so you have to do what makes you most comfortable and really nothing else matters. Although I understand wanting to be able to do more. Itβs hard missing out on things. I truly understand. Iβm beating myself up. Just relax and do what makes you happy. Thatβs all that matters. Ugh, I used to do the same thing for two weeks prior. I would get bed locked and just be dead to the world for two weeks then peak on my birthday and then get better a week or two after. Needless to say, I HATED my birthday because of this. I hear you.
I found that, once I figured out what was associating negative feelings with that day than I was able to grow past that. It's only been one year since then.
So tell me, what feelings or memories come up when you think of your birthday?? Who do you think of? Was there ever an amazing one? A terrible one? What's the best gift you ever got, the best party? Think deeply on these things and see what feelings come up. Just write it all out like a stream of consciousness. Give yourself a timer with 20 minutes and write whatever comes to mind for that amount of time. Just keep going with no order or plan, just write.
Give yourself some insight and release some of these feelings and memories. That is the first step.
Also, remember, this is a day that we put a lot of meaning into. Meaning and expectations lead toward possible disappointment, etc. It doesn't have to mean what it does to you now, we just have to work on changing your perspective. That being said, I am so sorry you had such a bum day. I have been there too, it know that there are people here thinking of you and I wish I could give you a cupcake πππππβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈππππ
Also, never feel regret for a day lost in bed. That will only make you feel worse. Don't focus on that because doing that will keep you from looking ahead. It happens to everyone, at some point.
