This is my first post, and I thought I could share my story. Depression has been a part of my family since as long as I could remember. When I was younger I was informed by my doctor that it was just a "phase". Four years ago I was diagnosed with depression as well as anxiety, then a month or so ago I was told by a therapist that most of my depression and anxiety may stem from PTSD. That was a huge shock for me. Since then I have been thinking about everything and how it may all be coming from a certain time in my life that I have tried to avoid for so long.
I have considered joining many sites such as this one for a long time now, but finally decided to just go for it. Sometimes I think it would just be nice to know that someone else out there may want to talk, and that I am not completely alone in this world.

Hi Amanda and Welcome to the forum. You will find that you certainly are not alone. You've found a safe place to come and meet others who like yourself are going through the same thing. We offer comfort and understanding and sharing of our life's journey with anxiety/depression.
We all have things in our lives that happened and took us where we are today. Addressing the issue is always the best way no matter how hard it may be. Unless we face what has brought us so much harm mentally, the PTSD is born and will continue to follow us through life.
We will look forward to having you join us on the forum when you feel comfortable enough to do so. Know that we all truly care. xx
Hey there, you are far from alone. Depression might make you feel alone be there are so many of us suffering from this illness that feel the same way. Good for you reaching out. This is a really great way for people to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe place with people who truly understand. I also suffer from PTSD and it has caused depression and anxiety. I'm here if you feel like chatting. I care. Also have you considered seeing a therapist to help you through the time in your life that caused ptsd? You shouldn't have to face that alone.
