Hello. Are you still in the outpatient program? What is happening with you? What's going on? Your post was "dail" on my inbox on my computer. Needed to open it to find you had actually posted a title of Fail. Why are you using that word? Fail at what?

OK. That's just one career option. Why were you physically capable? What about alternative career choices. Weren't you applying for college?

kw41716, welcome to one of the hardest careers for a woman to get into. I had always wanted to be a Paramedic but after getting my degree I found out that you had to become a Firefighter as well. So even though I didn't want to fight fires, I just wanted to work as a medic, I started working out intensely at the Fitness Center. The requirements weight wise was at least 115 lbs and I was 100lbs so I had to not only develop some muscles and strength but also some lbs.

The day came that I took the Firemen's Agility Test carrying tanks and hoses on my back going up 3 flights of steps. Jumping off ramps set up in the gym, Doing pull ups and chin ups. Chin ups I was great at, having practiced at the park on anything that had a bar set up. When it came time to lift the ladder on the side of the truck up and over the hooks holding it, I couldn't. As much as I had worked out, the muscle power required was too much for this female. Chief asked if I thought it was a fair test, which I did.

It was an accomplishment that I will never forget. I used my Paramedic training volunteering at the fire stations, teaching CPR Classes at local hospitals and finally working in the ER of a large teaching hospital I succeeded in going after what I wanted in life, making a few adjustments but nevertheless fulfilling my dream. And now I'm here on the forum, still trying to help others in a different capacity. kw there are always other options in life to fulfill you. Never feel you failed. Everything in life is an experience which betters you by making you a well rounded person.

Good Luck with college. Hope you find your niche in life. Be happy :) xx

Trust me, you don't have to be a fireman to earn someone's respect. Living a decent honest life earns my respect. What are you thinking about studying in college?

Ok, Do you know the difference between an advocation and a vocation? This is not meant as a trick question and I have a point in asking it. I have a MA degree in a psych field.

You still there? Hellooooooo? I'll answer the question for you. I consider my education and work in art therapy as an advocation......something I liked and enjoyed.....like you, interested in how the mind works. But found it very hard to support me as a therapist. A vocation is a career in an area where you can support yourself. I became a lawyer. That was hard, interesting and long hours, but it meant three years of school after 4 years of college. I still enjoy the knowledge and info about how psychology applies to any vocation...know how to work with people, how to figure out the missing pieces of a legal case by how the people involve behave, i.e.

So, guess I would have made my at therapy degree a minor in college if I were to do it over. A maybe consider computers and artificial intelligence areas as my major. So like you, my first attempt at an interesting career didn't work. But I found another. And so will you. Neither one of use "failed", we just chose careers that didn't work out.

So what do you think? I'll be leaving on a plane tomorrow for a few days. Would like to hear from you again before that.
