How long have you been on the meds for as they can take up to 6 weeks to fully enter your system. If they aren't working then go back to your doctor as you might need them upped or changed. It can take a while to find the right meds for you so don't give up. x
Ty i just started them they make me feel weird but im going to give them a chance
You are welcome. Didn't your doctor tell you it would take some time and you might feel worse before you feel better? Do you have a follow up appointment in a week or so to see how you are getting on?
As long as the side effects aren't too bad just try and stick with them and give them a chance to work. If you do get more severe effects which you can't deal with then go back to your doctor and ask for a change. I had to try 2 other ad's before I found sertraline which I am on now. They do help me. I started off on 100 mg which didn't help but when increased to 150 mgs they were great. It's often trial and error so perservere. x
I will keep trying ty for answering
Hey Briavel71, It is a weird combination to have to be organised and outspoken to your doctor about the meds and to insist on new ones if they are not working....all at the same time as you are probably having the worst episode in your life. I think one of the most difficult times with my depression was the start when I had to take that step to go to see the GP, to start taking meds, to go to assessments and to actually remember/care enough/make myself take the damn tablet every day. It is so much activity for someone who is utterly low and/or anxious. I didn't want to leave the bed let alone get organised with meds and doctors visits. You need support from people around you and you need to remind yourself of why you are doing it. the meds take time, be patient, note the changes and effects they are having on you. Are you feeling exactly the same? are you reacting the same? or can you see small changes? one day at a time is the way. Don't expect a big miracle, but son't ignore the small improvements. Maybe you fell asleep quicker last night? maube you didn't get as emotional about something you saw on TV? maybe you actually felt a bit of interest for something? even if you didn't act on it...but something made you think of something you would like to do? these are the little signs that you are getting help from the medicine. And it will get better over time, until the day when you realise in the evening that you haven't really thought about all the bad stuff today...hang in there, it is totally worth it. let us know how it goes!
it will take some time. you will feel better. dont worry
