New, Hope This Helps

I am a veteran of decades of active duty. I have been diagnosed by the VA as having Anxiety disorder, depression, and PTSD.

I have a hard time out in public... it often feels like I am going in slow motion while the world around me is traveling at the speed of light.

Driving is very difficult for me as I see cars coming right up to my rear bumper and tail gating me often.and I check speed and I am doing five miles over the speed limit?

I always feel I am in people's way

Thank you for your service, sir

The world does move fast, too fast sometimes, but I can't imagine you're causing people and distress by slowing them down. If in fact you're getting in people's way, it may be for their own good to be slowed down. Don't get caught up in the race.

We're all in different places in life with unique struggles and situations. Just try to do your best and treat others well.

I hope you're receiving some treatment for your diagnoses. I don't have the answer for you, heck I can't find the answer for me, but I maybe you're on the right path for yourself. If it works keep it up, if it doesn't change it up

I understand I have all those things as well but from different circumstances. I feel invisible. Sometimes I check to make sure I exist by pinching myself. Driving is hard too for me. It causes me major amxiety as I have had more brushes with death driving the past few years than the first 25 years put together. Everyone rushes around always all their phones driving. I rarely go out aloneanymore and I was quite independent once. I'm taking meds and doing therapy. Things have I'm proved marginally of I'm just getting better at faking it? Who knows? Good luck to you and take care. Hope you are getting help.

I can surely relate to your comment on feeling invisible... people walk right at me and I often have to step aside or... off the curb ? I often wonder if it is me that brings that on? And think... what could I do to improve that instance.

I think it's also the damn smartphones. I think people say something to me. .nope on some headset. Everyone is talking to someone from their tribe. All the time. I have one but never use it public or while driving. I have had two instances of speaking to someone in s public place and they didn't even acknowledge me. .probably because they thought I wad on the phone. ..lol. ..the world has really changed in my lifetime . People are so disconnected it's hard to make friends. And the tv does there best to make us hate, judge, and mistrust each other. It's probably the reason we're depressed. How many of you that are depressed have a vast amount of friends?

Thank you for Your service & post. I think we all feel a bit invisible at times. We are all handling our own issues & burdens. Just do your best. Life will fall into place. Maybe those people whom you feel you are in the way of need a little slowing down.

Peace

As a veteran there are programs that are available by VA to have someone drive you and get paid for doing so. If you want more info let me know it could help you out.

I also thank you for your service. When my anxiety is high it feels as if all my senses are stronger than usual. I don't know if this is what's happening to you, but whatever it is sounds scary and difficult. I would definitely check with the VA about resources that can help and also veteran's groups in your area. You may feel alone, but you are definitely not alone. And I hope you keep posting here. People are very helpful and kind.

I use VA often. I am A traveler... so making PTSD meetings are difficult. Each Clinic has it's own veterans to schedule. This month they will work with the new Veteran Centers located in every city...trying to use almost 12 step concepts for "drop ins" like myself who travel so much.

I am just learning about Triggers and how your senses react to certain environments and situations.

Always expecting the negative makes me jumpy and on edge. Trying to anticipate other people's movements , even in a grocery store... with shopping carts is a strain.

Just curious but the grocery store is one of the places that gives me the worst anxiety and it's not the people I feel like I lose my mind in there. I get confused forget what I went for forget what aisle I'm in and but things that I have no idea as to why I bought them.
