please i cant sleep function. I feel unrestful all the time. Anxiety robbed me of my sleep. I feel like I should keep walking all the the time.

Hi there,

I'm sorry you are feeling like this. To give my background- ive suffered from depression and anxiety since my early childhood, it has even developed into ocd. May I ask if you have sought professional help yet? Such as therapy or prescribed the appropriate medicines? That would be the first step to starting your journey of feeling better.

If you have, here's a few things I've learned to help calm my racing mind thinking of a million things at once when I need to sleep or simply just relax. I hope some things can be useful or spark new ideas to help you.

-repeat to myself my "calm phrase" which is "everything is ok, this is momentary and will pass. Nothing bad is happening at this moment and nothing bad is going to happen in the future because of this moment." This can be whatever positive reinforcement you need. The trick to it is, is that I keep repeating it until it's the only thing I'm focusing on it. (By the way you can say it to yourself or out loud- whatever you're comfortable with)

-meditation, there many resources to help guide you (Google search, books, local gatherings). My personal favorite is using youtube to find guided meditationso. This allows you to just focus on the instruction.

-local support groups, there are many free groups available. These have helped me feel more "sane" because there are many people going through the same issues. It helps remove the stigma and empowers.

-thinking about good memories or watching something funny. Anxiety tends to make you think the worst, I found that when I started feeling anxious fighting those bad feelings with healthy/positive things I enjoy helped.

-keep contact with positive people who want the best for you, don't isolate yourself. Also Don't surround yourself with people who are always negative or have bad/destructive habits. I ended up feeding off of their negativity and it only made me feel worse and go into darker places.

Take it day by day- It will get better, you are not alone.
