I am always afraid, too. I guess I am afraid of my own thoughts. I just want to feel like myself again. I'm sick of this too. Has been 4 months , waiting for relief from my antidepressant. I would give anything for this to go away.....

This has happened to me many many of times anxiety has no time limits whatsoever and just decides to come and wake you up whenever it feels like it ..its scary and most of all draining I know your not one to take meds but maybe you need to ask your doctor to give you something to help because you're struggling to sleep ..although you werent anxious before bed when anxiety wants to play games it will with no warning as you know..you just need something g to help relax you so it dont reoccur on a regular basis I had this so bad at one point I was so tired and exhausted I just collapsed I needed to sleep so I had to have a muscle relaxer before bed and touch wood havent had one at night since that was a long time ago although morning anxiety is my worst .

Hope this helps

Yes, fighting anxiety takes energy. When you can't sleep, you have no energy. I am usually a little scared when I wake up, but I know I need to sleep. There seems no answer to this huge problem. I so understand. We are not the only folks with this. Hang in there. We must get better soon !!!!!

So a muscle relaxant helped you... good idea. I have some anxiety constantly. Seems a little better in the late evening. At least I can look forward to that.... usually.! Thank you for responding.

It really feels terrible. I get nightmares when I go to sleep and I am too afraid of sleeping but dont want to make my body suffer so I try to keep myself calm.

I feel the same way you do. I have NO courage when I have this.... I feel like a frightened child. This must end soon. We are in this together, I guess...!

I have problems getting to sleep at nite because of the light under the door or between the curtains. I also use to think what tomorrow is going to be like or whatever triggers me. I take Ambien ER. It use to be that it took about a half hour before I get to sleep with it and now it takes almost two hours before I can sleep. I'm hoping that this doesn't get to where it doesn't work at all. I am not sure if you have been prescribed this but I think it will help. If I didnt take the Ambien ER I am not sleeping. I hope you find something that will help.

Zanix helped me greatly, but docs act like you are asking for heroin or something. They would rather see us suffer, than let us get a decent nights sleep.

in reply to matgrg

They're a controlled substance. Then one I am on you don't remember the night before alot. I've made eggs, toast, hamburger and etc and never even remember until I saw pan in sink. Can be a dangerous drug.

Hi Sodown.

I've been suffering from panic attacks for many years now. They can be extremely scary.

There is something that can help you, I do it every time I get a panic attack and it really helps!. It's called diaphragm breathing or belly breathing.

Lie down in a comfortable position and put one hand on your stomach (above your belly button) and the other on your chest. Then breathe in through your nose, and notice your belly rise. Your chest shouldn’t rise much at all. Next, purse your lips and exhale through your mouth.

Good luck!

Sodown, this use to happen to me as well...Same symptoms. It has to do with overwhelming

anxiety because of issues not resolved or accepted. It stems from an over sensitized nervous system that reacts to the stimulus from our subconscious brain. :) xx

Your life is not ruined Sodown but in a "holding pattern" right now.

With severe anxiety also came Agoraphobia for me. Anxiety does not

have to be a life long sentence. We're here to help you find your way back :) xx

I get in&out of grocery store, and other places as fast as I can. Makes no sense, but what else is new... I am very impatient. Does anybody else do this?

matgrg, For me, it started in having a Panic Attack in the grocery store. My mind then thought of the store as a threat. I enabled that feeling without realizing it at

the time by thinking if I go in and out real fast, I may be able to beat the anxiety.

Of course that didn't happen because the anxiety doesn't come from the store but

from our minds. I mean those attacks were unreal. Felt like death was seconds away. Unfortunately, once you start skipping the places you've had a panic, your

world gets smaller and smaller until one day you become Agoraphobic as I did. :) xx

Yes, that is true. Because when I get out of the store, I'm still anxious...so why did I hurry??? Maybe I should try to concentrate on something enjoyable, like cupcakes. Except I have almost no appetite. I wish I wouldn't take myself so seriously. Talk later.
