Just received my bill in the mail today from about 2 weeks ago when I attempted suicide... And if it doesn't give me another reason then I don't know what will. The total came to be over $340,000.
Even when I did work, I was making roughly $12,000 a year. Right now we're barely able to pay our regular bills. We were locked out of our apartment two days ago because our rent was so late. We constantly are having to wait to pay the power bill until the day it is getting shut off... So of course now the house is tense. My boyfriend is totally stressed out and I know It's all my fault. All I can do is sit here and cry I feel so worthless and helpless.

Hey! Fist off - that sucks, I'm sorry. Second - you aren't worthless or helpless- you have helped me and I really appreciate you. Remember that you are a good person I hope this helped at least a little
Not that I am going to be of any help but I found in our life as long as you send something you may get more understanding from the debtors. I mean send $2.00 if you can and don't sweat paying it off. Prices are outrageous but I have seen friends in similar situations and the hospitals will lower their prices or other organizations step in to help. But the point being you are trying your best no matter what you decide to do. And your life is worth infinitely more than $340,000.
I am a social worker. Contact the hospital where you received the bill and ask if you can apply for financial assistance, most places have a charitable fund they can draw from. Also try applying for Medicaid and let them know you have past unpaid bills.
