Having a pain attack can't sleep

Up and can't sleep having a panic attack.

Hi Allaiy. If you want you can say what is bothering you to have a panic attack. I have had panic attacks once in a while before.

I really can't name any one thing just not able to settle down and all of a sudden i find myself having a panic attack.

Have you ever done or practiced meditation, either by watching a person doing a beginnerś class or video online, or going to a place to practice and learn about meditation?

Meditation has worked in the past for me. I need to practice it more to lessen my anxieties and/or depression.

I get my panics in the night too.

i agee w bchwlkr that meditation can help. YouTube is a great source for guided meditations, self hypnosis, positive affirmation and motivational videos. Some are specific to sleep and panic. Use the search bar to find dozens of good ones. Bookmark the best ones. Podcasts are a good source too. Get a podcast app and use the search bar.

I also keep a notebook near the bed. Sometimes writing a fear inventory or a letter to god, or to my inner child or list my resentments or a gratitude list or a to do list. Write it down. It's cheap therapy and having it on paper gets it out of my head.

Finally, I've cut back dramatically on caffeine and sugar. Even in the morning I now drink de cafe coffee. It was hard but those are fuels for panic.

After all that meditating and listening to podcasts, how many hours of sleep do you get each night? Do you wake up refreshed the next day?

There are both short and long meditations. If I awake during the night I'll find a meditation or hypnosis for insomnia and i usually fall asleep while it plays. That's what they are designed to do.

The loss of sleep while listening to meditations is much shorter than if I just lay there tossing and turning, ruminating and over thinking. I wake up far better resfreshed and less hung over.

Ideally meditation should be a daily practice (morning or evening or both) for overall health just like excercise and journaling and diet..

The objective is to heal and calm the mind from over thinking and ruminating while discovering the root of and solutions to my problems. .

I'm still a beginner and I can only suggest what benefits me.

Please go find yourself a good psychiatrist who will listen to you and put you on a treatment plan that can help you sleep better without the panic attacks interrupting your sleep from time to time.

Having to wake up to meditate each night, must surely be a hassle. I know I would hate it if I had to interrupt my sleep each night to meditate, much the same way I hated interrupting my sleep when I was taking sodium oxalate for my sleep at one time.
