Under severe stress, and waking with severe IBS, and anxiety. How do I overcome This? Due to new baby, sleep patterns are abnormal.

For about a year now I have been sleeping shorter hours and waking with bouts of IBS followed by wicked anxiety. Always awake by 5 because of the stomach pain, then the anxiety comes out of no where like a freight train. I take my meds and try to stay busy until the kids are gone to school. By that time I am exhausted, and just want to sleep. It takes a good 2 hours to get this under control with meds, and deep breathing. Why am I waking like This? Is it ever gonna stop? My stress during the day can be extreme due to my daily responsibilities. For some reason Sundays are the worst. Any ideas?

How well do you cope with the crying or whining of a 1 year old? Do the needs and demands of caring for young children put your nerves in edge? How about the constant noise and loudness? For some people these are welcome noises of happiness and they like to be surrounded by this atmosphere. For others this is stressful and demanding of them and they simply tolerate the mayhem and look forward to getting through this disorganized messiness and getting everything picked up and in it's place. Which would you say more closely resembles how you feel? Or do you feel something else entirely?

I propose that your anxiety arises from the caring for the children and simply having them around because it's so demanding, non-peaceful and keeps you on your toes. Your job, no doubt, also has it's demands. Your anxiety doesn't have to emerge exactly when you're stressed, it can easily come out at another available time. The fact that just the morning routine getting the kids out the door exhausts and drains you tells me it takes a lot out of you and you don't get your enjoyment and "recharge your personal batteries" that way.

I'm guessing that Sundays are the worst because you don't get to take the children somewhere like school and they are with you instead. Maybe you have to take them to church and you need them to behave and be quiet? Or there is some other circumstance where you still have the responsibility of the children? Only you know the answer to that.

But maybe you're too busy to get extremely anxious and the anxiety doesn't hit you until you get to a quiet moment like in the am after the kids are off to school. That's very typical of anxiety...to hit you hardest when you have a moment to relax. I hope you seek help and treatment from a doctor and please let the doctor know about the level of your anxiety which seems not to be at an acceptable level and also about your sleep problems which need a doctor's attention. With those 2 problems addressed by your doctor you could be feeling a whole lot better. Take care and please let me know how you're doing.

My anxiety gives me similar symptoms. Waking up anxious about how the insomnia and anxiety are going to affect my day. I have little ones as well and the responsability of work home and marriage can really make things harder. I hope you start feeling better knowing that your not alone. Be encouraged 😊
