MRI Result. All clear.

I was worried. Noticed a lot of mistakes as I type. All sorts of minor things.

Surely I was developing ALD.

But no. I am in the clear.

See the pic? On the right is last year. Plenty of bright areas on account of the contrast medium.

On the left is today. Clean as a whistle. Panic over (for another year).

Also, I got the neurologist to prescribe me some Naproxen. Excellent inflammatory.

Some theories that VLCFA's cause inflammation, contributing to demylination. The antioxidants didn't work, nor the Biotin. I'll give the Naproxen a shot. Not expecting much.

Soon be Christmas. Talk to you all later, folks.

That's great, monkeybus. Developing cerebral disease is obviously each of our (or at least the males) biggest concern, so a clean MRI is excellent news. Did you get the contrast this year?

I go in for my next MRI in March. I've got some subtle, minor brain involvement, but the ALD/AMN specialist I saw this year told me that these are really more of a "dying back" signal coming up from the spinal cord to the brain (I think this is called Wallerian degeneration, or axonal degeneration), and not concerning for adult cerebral ALD. Good news, indeed.

I absolutely hear you about the more frequent mistakes in things like typing. I used to be pretty mentally sharp, in the honors program at university, etc. It feels like it takes me about three times as long to achieve anything as it used to. I have trouble finding the right word in conversation ALL THE TIME. Bear in mind, I'm 31, hardly old. But I've said it before, this disease and its symptoms turns us into elderly people before our time. It's all a part of re-establishing expectations for our lives. A work in progress.

Have a very happy Christmas!

Yes, calls for a celebration. Don't let me drink too much. Mrs Monkeybus is teetotal.

I'll just blame you if I have to. Cover for me. Cheers.

Well have a good drink but just not to much and if the drink keeps the legs calm Mrs Monkeybus should be happy with a restful nights sleep.

Andrew, do you think the pain in your back is down to our disease?

Well monkeybus I checked the NHS website and both Addison's and Hydrocortisone can cause back pain but there is a lot of back pain out there so who knows.

I suffered since I was 14, all stopped after I started Yoga.

I think the movement helps, mine feels better when I have been working in the garden so any type of exercise could help.
